Training Fire Prevention Employees

Employees assigned to be part of the fire-fighting emergency team shall receive appropriate training through specialised courses. As of 4 October 2022, the reference legislation for the training of firefighters is the Ministerial Decree of 2 September 2021. That decree divides the training courses into three distinct levels, named respectively: 1-FOR, 2-FOR and 3-FOR, based on the degree of risk and expertise required for emergency management.

Main fire protection measures; evacuation in case of fire; Call for help.

  PRACTICAL EXERCISE
View and clarification on portable fire extinguishers; exercises on the use of portable fire extinguishers; having read the fire register, clarifications and exercises concerning the surveillance activity.

Fire Prevention Officer 2-FOR Training Course

Principles on combustion and fire: extinguishing substances; the combustion triangle; the main causes of a fire; risks to persons in the event of fire; the main precautions and measures to prevent fires.

Reaction to fire; fire resistance; compartmentalisation; exodus; fire control; detection and alarm; control of fumes and heat; fire-fighting operations; security of technological and service facilities.
Fire safety management in operation and in emergency, with insights on controls and maintenance and emergency planning.

  PRACTICAL EXERCISE
Having read and clarified the most common control and extinguishing equipment and systems; acknowledgment and clarification of personal protective equipment and equipment; exercises on the use of portable fire extinguishers and how to use nosepieces and hydrants; having read the fire register, clarifications and exercises concerning the surveillance activity.

3-FOR Fire Prevention Attaché Training Course

Principles of combustion; the main causes of fire in relation to the specific working environment; extinguishing substances; risks to people and the environment; specific fire prevention measures; behavioural measures to prevent fires; the importance of workplace control; the importance of checks and maintenance on fire-fighting devices.

  FIRE STRATEGY (first part)
Areas at specific risk. Protection against explosions.
Firefighting measures (first part): reaction to fire; fire resistance; compartmentalisation; exodus; detection and alarm; control of smoke and heat.

  FIRE STRATEGY (Part 2)
Firefighting measures (second part): fire control; fire-fighting operations; fire safety management in operation and in emergency; checks and maintenance. The contingency plan shall: emergency procedures; alarm procedures; evacuation procedures.

  PRACTICAL EXERCISE
Having read and clarified the use of fire control and fire-extinguishing equipment; inspection of personal protective equipment (including masks, self-protector, overalls); exercises on the use of fire control and fire-extinguishing equipment; having read the fire register; clarifications and exercises concerning the surveillance activity.
